This is the big daddy, Jet Lag OG by Cannabiotix.

As with many of CBX’s newer strains, this was something of a pass on my first try. I did not care for the cross of the two parent strains, Kush Mountains and Red Eye OG at all. This was partly because I found the Red Eye to be too full of certain terpenes I do not enjoy the taste or sensation of, which taste like muted marshmallow, rose water and Turkish delight swirling together.

Only turning to Jet Lag again recently because of the scarce availability of some other varieties I was on the lookout for at the dispo, my mind was swiftly changed. This is heavy, possibly the heaviest of all the Indica strains out there that I’ve tried.

It’s Mike Tyson, a heavyweight that will put you down effortlessly; but there is more to this flower than just being smacked upside the head.

I smoked some of these dense nugs initially in the early evening, which I note because time of day and what to expect in terms of effects are both very important factors to me when analyzing any flower. I partook right ahead of going to the theatre to see a new movie, and it was the most blissful experience.

It gave me feelings of euphoria and sensations of heavy sedation in equal measure, which I find to be a rare and unusual combination when it comes to most cannabis flower.

The Jet Lag enhanced my evening’s activities in a subtle, elegant and uplifting way that I would expect to come more from a Sativa, but with all the juice and weight of the chunky Indica rocking behind it. The smoking experience reminds of the recent Toto concert I was lucky enough to attend at The Hollywood Bowl — perfectly equalized with crisp and unmistakable notes of nostalgic feeling to it.

Needless to say I am very passionate about this strain now, which is steadily moving up in the ranks to become one of my favorite top two or three to look out for from the brand’s vast catalogue.

This is fitting, as Cannabiotix is a Californian-based grower with one of the largest and most carefully run operations in the commercial cannabis field. Their reputation is unmatched among the smoking community here, and the experience is top shelf all the way, working equally across the mind and body in the most in fascinating ways.

Their cultivation is worked on meticulously to produce great flower, one of the reasons I eventually stopped looking for anything better because I don’t think it exists. The consistency of potency and quality, alongside the terpene profiles in any flower are extremely important elements to consider.

Weighing in at the 30% THC mark on this batch, you’ll get an idea of what to expect – it’s a bit of a beast – and remember that the higher percentage will mean the buzz is not as long lasting. I preferred this flower at 26% personally, although it’s also important to understand that every batch of cannabis is slightly different for many reasons.

The nose on this cross of two Indica strains is intense, containing sharp aromas of Lysol, Pinesol, floor cleaner and the trademark scent of gasoline you will come to expect from high end OG flower here in California.

This is noteworthy because as mentioned at the start of my review, I did not find many of these terpenes to be present in either of the parent strains, other than the sticky forest floor of pine needles in Kush Mountains, one of CBX’s longest standing and best loved products.

This batch has the hallmark of the greatest strains of flower I have tried – it will put you to sleep without any warning. On more than one occasion I have woken up from such an instance, slightly disoriented with the savage munchies, so beware, it’s not for beginners.

To summarize, Jet Lag can be used in the earlier part of the day, although I find its early evening to late night window to be the optimal time to enjoy it.

I won’t tangle with it often, as the clue is in the name, but every once in a while she delivers a perfect knockout. Nice work CBX.
