This month I am here with another new review, the next installment of a new series in which I will be exclusively discussing Sativa strains in-depth.

As night is to day, Sativa is to Indica what the Sun and the Moon represent to us in terms of our mood, state of mind, and different phases of emotional wellbeing.

It is therefore crucial we examine not only the strains which might calm and sedate us, and offer pain relief or escape from anxiety, but also those which work on the opposite end of the scale, to understand the full spectrum of the power of what cannabis can offer to all of us.

As one might expect, this range of effects includes elevation of our mood, boosts in our creative thinking, producing things like art, even our appetite and sexual arousal.

So today we have the latest in Cannabiotix’s 2025 lineup, Super Mango Haze, and I am very happy it is here for us to enjoy and look at in greater detail.

When I first arrived in California, I didn’t have too great an understanding or knowledge of what a good Sativa or Indica might be. However, my father and I had ascertained that most of what we’d smoke was usually Sativa-based, as we would often spend nights up til the sun came up discussing our endlessly bizarre concepts and ideas.

If we both woke up in our respective chairs during this period, unaware of having fallen asleep, we often joked that’s how we knew the strain was an Indica. But beyond these vague notions of what each category of cannabis offered, I really didn’t have an idea of what I liked when it came to weed.

So when I got here, all I wanted to try was smoking Sativa strains. No Indica, just Sativa time and time again. It was quite a weird thing looking back on it now as a total Indica convert, but we all change and learn over time, which is one of the beautiful parts of being a human.

Often I would seek these jack-based strains, or strains like Blue Dream out, to find what I was looking for, but would mostly be left feeling quite disappointed by them in general.

Once I managed to identify CBX as a decent brand I could rely on, and their Tropicanna flower, I quickly gravitated to exploring more of their delicious flower. As time progressed, they brought more and more Sativa based strains out, each one more fascinating.

These have included strains over the past such as Strawberry Lemonade, Tropical Lemonade, Mountain Sage, and more recent examples of Tropical Heat, Blue Crush and now the latest addition to their roster, Super Mango Haze.

A cross between the old school Green Crack and Tropical Heat (Super Silver Haze x Tropicanna), this flower is described as having lip-smacking flavor with an intoxicating aroma, a mango forward smoke offering an extremely distinct profile, slightly cheesy yet sweet and fruity.

The effects can be described as energizing, euphoric and joyful, but as always with CBX there is much more to explore behind the scenes.

This is a great new twist to their old classic Tropicanna, and if you read my review on that you will know how passionately I adore it. This update brings to us a heady new combo of bizarre beauty and tranquility which I found perfect to get through the levels of Kirby’s Forgotten Land with perfect ease, ice skating my way to completing challenge after challenge in the most pleasing and enjoyable way.

I felt a warm smile spread across my face as I enjoyed the sunshine outside while I smoked, turned on the Nintendo Switch 2, and just banged out some solid gaming. As I celebrate my 44th birthday around the time of using Super Mango Haze and writing this review, I am struck by the concept that these are the things which I want most out of life these days.

To have them come together at once like this must be a thing of true beauty. I consider myself very lucky to be in this position, and don’t want for much else in life except to be left alone to do these things in peace and work through the various things in my head by myself.

I would call Super Mango Haze a really nice remix to the already fabulous world of Tropicanna.

It reminds me of arriving in Singapore last year, or another far-eastern country you might visit, somewhere in Indonesia or Jakarta. As soon as you step outside the plane you are hit by a wave of tropical heat, like a furnace burning in the air.

As one walks through the streets, your senses are assaulted by the most incredible combination of cooking meats, the stench of fruits in the markets, some of it rotting in the gutters beside the street where it is sold – particularly the Durien fruit – and this juxtaposition, combined with the incredible heat brings on a psychedelic feeling of disorientation and you fall in love with this bizarre and heady mix of incredible fragrances almost instantly. Or at least I did.

Smoking the Super Mango Haze, my mind also started to wander to the gorgeous imagery and concept of the TV series The White Lotus, which shows off the beautifully lush green and turquoise shades of water and brooding skies over Thailand.

As I continued my smoking of it through the bong, I was lured to far away islands with poisonous fruits and strange secrets, while the pervasive soundtrack by Cristobal Tapia de Veer thudded throughout my thought hallucinations.

That’s something I want to mention here as I round out my review, the quality of the burning of the flower in the pipe which CBX is famous for. It is so unmatched and of such a high quality it always impresses me more than anything else – this flower is just incredible in how it burns so effortlessly, maybe a little too well.

It was gone all too soon, I think I might have smoked the whole eighth in the jar in under 24 hours, but hey it’s my birthday and I’ll get high if I want to.

Right, from here on, I will be smoking more delicious Sativa strains and bringing my findings to you.

Take care and stay strong in these very weird times.
