Each week, I try to pick apart the mysteries of the most powerful flower I can find on the planet, to explore what strange and other worldly qualities they possess.

Today it is time for what is possibly my all-time favorite flower, Kush Mountains from Cannabiotix. When I first tried it a few years ago, it was probably my least favorite of all the CBX catalog, which consisted of only five or six strains compared to now where they have more than 15 or 20 to choose from – too many.

While many of the newer varieties have come and gone, Kush Mountains has remained a staple in their lineup and for good reason. It’s strange how a smoker’s palate and tastes for flower change so much over time, but once you’ve tried as many as you can, the best ones start to stand out because they are simply so reliable in terms of their consistency and effects. I think of this as the “greatest hits” of weed.

The high from Kush Mountains is certainly one of those, as it offers a very potent, all-encompassing and expansive experience across both head and body. The first thing you notice on smelling it in the jar is the powerful scent of pine needles on a forest floor, and the nugs feel similarly sticky, akin to the sap of the said tree, when breaking it down by hand.

For me, this is the brand’s most easily accessible and best-loved product, because it has so much to offer in terms of basic pain relief and healing of ailments. It doesn’t try to think too far out of the box, but it gets everything right because of the beauty of the simplicity.

We aren’t going on a world tour of Z or Gelato terps here, or trying to conjure flavors of sushi or candy as many other brands are trying to do today, but simply remaining true to the roots and taste of great marijuana.

This is the kind of weed that when you might offer it to one of your relatives to smoke, they would probably tell you that it reminded them of the weed they smoked when they were growing up. Is there a better endorsement for a flower than that? I don’t think so.

This is really a very medicinal flower, in the more traditional sense, and if one explores the realms of cannabis flower further, many users claim that some terpenes can even be antibacterial.

Once you tear into the flower you find dense sticky buds which typify the perfect Indica. I’m sure many of you reading this might have already tried this as it has been available on the market for several years already, but for those still yet to try it, I don’t think it gets much better than this one.

The effects are best described as a combination of therapeutic, but also recreational and fun to use at any time of the day. I find it particularly satisfying for a wake-and-bake session, if you are so inclined, as it leaves me feeling perfectly calm and focused for the day ahead.

Dr. StrainLove is a long time lover of fine weed and is always hunting for the latest and greatest strains.  His search has taken him from the Coffeeshops of Amsterdam to the boutique dispensaries of California, and lots of other places in between. He loves making music, playing video games, and using marijuana to ponder the mysteries of the universe. When he’s not doing those things, he enjoys spending time with his cat.
